Honey And Baking Soda Mask

Soda and honey are in almost everyone’s closet. But not many people know how valuable these ingredients are for the skin. On their basis, you can come up with hundreds of different homemade masks. Our grandmothers used this tandem, but with the advent of many cosmetic brands, it has long been forgotten. Often even the most expensive drugstore products can not cope with problems on the face and bring the skin into a healthy state. Moreover, many means are comedogenic and provoke problems. Home masks consist of natural ingredients and rarely cause deterioration.

Honey And Baking Soda Mask Benefits

Such a mask helps to regenerate the skin and perfectly copes with excessive oiliness and minor rashes. The components complement the action of each other. Honey softens the aggressive influence of baking soda, which does not lead to drying of the epidermis, but on the contrary, helps to nourish and moisturize tissues. The mask will be beneficial for problematic, oily, and combination skin.

Benefits Of Honey

Honey is famous for its content of vitamins and trace elements and has antioxidant properties. But it can be consumed not only in food. The effects of honey when applied to the face and body:

  • Wound-healing properties: promotes tissue regeneration.
  • Nourishes the skin and gives a rejuvenating and lifting effect.
  • Anti-inflammatory action: reduces redness.

Remember that honey is a very allergenic product. So be careful, and apply it to your elbow to check for reactions.

Benefits Of Baking Soda

Soda neutralizes excessive acidity and removes sebum, thus reducing the reproduction of acne bacteria to a minimum. Main components of action:

  • Bactericidal properties.
  • Cleansing and reducing the size of pores, removing excess sebum from them.
  • Reducing the secret secretion of the sebaceous glands.
  • Exfoliating effect: baking soda acts as a fine abrasive.
  • Drying up inflammatory elements helping to fight acne.

But everything is good in moderation. If you do such a mask too often, due to a constant reduction in acidity and removal of oily secretion, there is an increase in its generation by the sebaceous glands. Therefore, applying the composition for 10-15 minutes, no more than once a week, is optimal.

Mask Use Contraindications

The ingredients give a powerful and rapid effect, which is why their use should be cautiously treated. There are several cases in which the use of masks based on honey and baking soda is not advisable:

  • Allergic reactions to one of the components.
  • Couperose or very thin skin with translucent vessels.
  • Presence of wounds on the skin.

People with dry skin should include additional moisturizing components in such a mask, such as cream, ground oat flakes, cucumber juice, or fruit.

A slight tingling sensation is typical for such masks. It is an indication that it works. But as soon as you start to feel an intense burning sensation, the mask must be rinsed off immediately.

Remember to use only freshly prepared compositions. Home care products’ main disadvantage is that they are not suitable for storage.

Recipes For Honey And Baking Soda Masks

These are not all of the masks you can think of with honey and baking soda. Additionally, you can add to them: a pinch of salt, white clay, cucumber juice, slices of banana, or other fruits.

Classic variant

This formulation is suitable for normal, combination, and oily skin with few rashes.

  • Baking soda – 2 tablespoons.
  • Honey – 1 tablespoon.
  • Water – 2 tablespoons.

The water should be at room temperature, and you should not use candied honey. The ready mask should have a sour creamy consistency. Apply it for a maximum of 10 minutes. You can wash off with light massaging movements. Then you will get a light scrubbing effect.

For dry skin

The critical ingredient is cream. It enhances the moisturizing effect that dry skin needs.

  • Baking soda – 2 tablespoons.
  • Honey – 1 tablespoon.
  • Cream – 2 tablespoons.

The cream is better for taking less fat, for the mask does not matter much, but it will be easier to rinse it off. After 15 minutes, rinse with warm water.

For oily skin

  • Baking soda – 1 teaspoon.
  • Honey – 1 teaspoon.
  • Lemon juice – 1 teaspoon.

This mask is quite aggressive. Its effect is aimed specifically at thick, oily skin. If your skin is thin and not used to the effects of acids, you may not want to take any chances with this formulation.

A homemade mask of honey and salt works well if you follow all the proportions in the recipe and apply them in a course. Then the cleansing, anti-inflammatory, and rejuvenating effects will not last long.
