Blow Boots: How to choose, What to wear with

Choosing the perfect winter shoes is quite difficult. One is elegant; the not comfortable enough, the other is warm, but not very pretty. In this regard, blowing boots are one of the best solutions. You can wear them under almost anything, the suitable thing is to choose the right model and style.

What is blown boots?

Blow boots are textile boots with moisture-resistant impregnation.

But they should not be confused with moon boots -though moon boots are very similar to blow boots in their composition athe difference stand what the difference is, you need to remember what blow boots look like and what moonwalkers look like.

In the first case, it is practically elegant boots. Although the cuff does fit tightly to the foot, but it repeats its shape.

The moon boots are rougher and more massive. They have right and left boots that don’t differ from each other. These shos are their own way, but they are much harder to match with different looks.

It is worth noting that some manufacturers do not divide these shoes into two types, considering moon boots the same blow boots, which are just called differently.

Pros and cons

There are a lot of advantages of puffins, they are:

  • light;

  • relatively inexpensive. Of course, brand shoes can’t cost cheap. But for the production of blow boots almost never use genuine leather or suede. For the most part, they are made only of synthetic fabrics and materials, which positively affects the price;
  • warm. In most cases, fur (artificial or natural) is used as insulation;

  • waterproof. There are inexpensive models without waterproof impregnation, but more often than not, it is a mandatory element of blown boots;
  • a variety of. Fashion designers in all countries appreciated this kind of shoe, so there are a huge number of variations of them. With rivets and laces, sporty and elegant, dark and light, high and low – everyone will find a suitable option.

The list of disadvantages looks less impressive.

The main disadvantage is that they are not suitable for every type of clothing. Blown boots go well with sports and street style, but are completely inappropriate in a set with business and evening outfits.

But, absolutely no shoes are universal, elegant boots on a stiletto also will not work under sports pants.

Another disadvantage applies only to some models. Synthetic shoes can crack in very hard frosts. This is logical because low-quality shoes do not last very long.

How to choose blown boots

Residents of southern and northern regions may have different requirements for winter boots. Therefore, the choice should take into account the climate zone and individual preferences.

The main factors to pay attention to:

  • weight. Shoes should not be heavy. Most quality puffers weigh 400-700 grams. But in artisanal production, this figure can double. It will be very uncomfortable to walk in such boots on drifts;
  • shoe. Blow boots with a heel or a wedge heel are quite rare, but they do occur. But even models with a flat sole may have uncomfortable pads, which should be taken into account;

  • outsole. This point is especially important for winter boots. Their sole should be thick and non-slip. With demi-seasonal shoes, it is enough to check that it is well glued and stitched. You should also pay attention to the density of the sole. Hardworking Chinese often save on this and make it hollow inside. In this case, it quickly cracks and rubs into holes;
  • moisture resistance. Most manufacturers assure that their products have water-repellent impregnation. But in reality, you can find out whether the boots will pass water only during use. Therefore, if the boots are purchased for slushy weather – it is better to take a model from reputable brands, or to choose a version with a rubber boot;

  • heel. The heel should be stiff, especially if the duffel is purchased for a child or teenager. But even an adult lady in the wrong shoes will feel uncomfortable by evening. Feet will be more tired, and in some cases, sore and swollen. Children who walk in shoes without a stiff heel can develop clubfoot;
  • seams. Protruding threads and poorly stitched areas – this is not only ugly but also negatively affects moisture resistance and thermal insulation. Therefore, when buying carefully check all joints and seams.

Having decided on the quality, you can move on to the choice of design.

Height

Choosing the optimal height, you need to consider not only the temperature at which will be wearing blow boots but also the final winter look.

Short

Low, practical boots, in appearance often resemble so fashionable winter sneakers.

Best of all low models are combined with voluminous down jackets of different lengths and styles.

But shortened models have different designs, there are also more familiar variations.

Medium

The most common height of blow boots – is up to the middle of the shin. Very often this shoe becomes the basis of the winter closet. In this length, there are a lot of options for a variety of looks (photo below).

Long

Knee-high is more often a winter option. Therefore, such models are often produced in light shades and sometimes decorated with “winter” prints. Lovers of bright and dark shades should not despair, they will also be able to find a suitable option in the right length.

It is high boots manufacturers are trying to make with a hint of elegance, complementing them with a heel or wedge heel. Such models can be successfully combined with a long dress, or wear such blown boots with a mink coat or an elegant coat.

Over the knee

Blown boots look less elegant than knee-high boots. Combined with a heel, they look awful.

Therefore, most manufacturers choose the classic flat sole. Such shoes are suitable for short skirts and shorts. It is desirable to choose outerwear length to the waist, or up to the middle of the thigh.

This boot height should be treated with great caution. It is suitable only for tall skinny girls. Everyone else will look ridiculous in blown boots.

Material

Conventionally, the cuff of the blown boots consists of two parts: the lining (insulation) and the outer part, which is responsible for moisture resistance and appearance.

It is used as a lining:

  • natural fur. Boots with natural fur are very warm and durable. They can be worn without fear in freezing winters. But this material requires careful care, so these boots are often used as an additional pair of shoes;

  • artificial fur. This material is less demanding, but it will only be comfortable in light frosts (down to -10°C). Faux fur puffers are suitable for regions with mild climates, or for those who spend little time outdoors;

  • printed fur. This is an average version: real fur on a synthetic lining. This filling can be dried on the radiator, it is warm and durable enough. The cost of these models is much lower than that of boots with real fur;

  • wool. Such a lining is used only in the “Euro Winter” variant, or in demi-seasonal models. At temperatures below -5° C, they are uncomfortable, but such blown boots are ideal for the auto lady.

As for the upper part, a lot depends on the quality of processing of the materials. Therefore, the choice often depends solely on aesthetic parameters and personal preferences.

Designers are constantly coming up with new options and combinations. At the moment there are:

  • leather. The appearance of these models differs from the classic fur boots. Leather can be used, both natural and artificial, as the so-called eco-leather;

  • Suede. Not the most practical material for winter and slushy autumn, but very attractive, as a consequence – popular. Here, as well as with leather, boots are made of both natural and artificial suede. So there is a choice;

  • EVA. Ethylene-vinyl acetate is a modern waterproof material, capable of withstanding frosts down to -45 ° C. The only drawback, these models do not look very stylish. Most often they are worn by outdoor enthusiasts (fishermen, hunters) or those who have to work on the street;

  • Membrane. Fashionable term on everyone’s ears, although many do not fully understand what are membrane boots. Blow boots with this miracle layer are also actively produced. But, out of ten pairs that are alleged “with a membrane”, these are no more than a couple of pieces. Therefore, when buying should pay attention to the special label book, which should be spelled out the type of membrane and its boundary properties (minimum wearing temperature, water resistance class, etc.);
  • rubber. Rubber is not used to make blow boots completely. Only the lower part (the boot). By and large, such shoes should be called snow boots. But very often they are distinguished as a separate type of blow boots;
  • textile. There are a lot of options, from frank synthetics to knitted patterns. Light, comfortable, practical – the main thing is to choose a really high-quality model;

  • combined. To facilitate care and improve performance, most often produce combined versions of ducts. The lower part is covered with leather or “foam” from slush, and the upper part is made of textile materials.

With good quality shoes, either version is suitable for frosty winters and autumn slush.

Clasp

The clasp is not only an additional element of decor. It determines the ease of use of padded shoes. With its help the boot is firmly fixed on the foot, reducing the likelihood of injury in a bad fall.

The most common are:

  • Velcro. The most practical and convenient option;
  • laces. They look nice, but not everyone likes to tie them;

  • zippers. There are variants with zippers in the front, on the side, on the back, or with two zippers. The main thing when choosing to pay attention to the presence of the top lock. Without it, the zipper can come apart.

The variant with combined fasteners is widespread. The most popular tandem is the laces and the zipper. In this case, the laces are used mostly as decoration – and the zipper is responsible for convenience.

Outsole

The main heat loss comes from the sole, so do not ignore it. The second important factor for which this part of the shoe is responsible is the number of falls. If there is no desire to learn “ballet on ice”, you need to pay attention to the tread.

Material

It’s not so simple with the material. In most cases, the seller himself is not able to answer exactly what the sole is made of. This is not due to incompetence but to the abundance of new materials.

Each manufacturer strives to develop its own unique formula. And it is difficult for the consumer to understand how thermoplastic elastomer differs from tunite or ethylene vinyl acetate.

Therefore, when choosing a new pair it is enough to pay attention to the depth and tread pattern, as well as the thickness and quality of the sole attachment to the fabric.

View

The shape and color of the sole dramatically change the appearance of the shoe. In addition, it greatly affects the quality and usability of the boots.

Conventionally, all existing options can be divided into three types:

  • platform. It can be low or extremely high. This is the most stable and suitable option for winter.
  • heel. Blow boots with a heel are universal. They look equally good with jeans, and a long down jacket, fur coat, or dress. But for winter and ice, the heel is not the best choice. Such shoes are better to buy “for going out” and not for everyday wear;
  • wedge heel. An average version: more stable than the heel and more elegant than the platform. This option is better suited for a variety of skirts and dresses. Jeans and sporty styles do not go with a wedge heel.

Decor

Jewelry is a matter of taste. Some people like “everything and more,” while others prefer shoes without any decorations.

It is also worth taking into account the purpose of boots. If they will serve as an everyday shoes – it is better not to abuse decorations. If they will be just an extra pair in the closet – you can choose something with exclusive finishes.

Most often used for decoration:

  • rhinestones;

  • spikes;
  • drawings, prints;

  • clasps and laces.

When choosing a variant of finishing, you should pay attention to the reliability of fixing the decor. It would be a shame if in a couple of weeks the rhinestones would fall off, or the paint would peel off, and practically new boots would lose their marketable appearance.

Which are the warmest?

Beautiful and stylish boots – that’s great. But whether it’s warm in blow boots in winter – that’s what’s important. This question is difficult to answer. Each person has his own way of enduring the cold. Some suffer from cold in long sheepskin boots, while others are satisfied with a shorter model in fake fur.

The top list includes:

  • of natural materials;
  • made of quality modern materials (waterproof, breathable);
  • membrane ones.

But each of these materials can not cost cheap and requires individual care. It is enough to wash or dry such shoes incorrectly once, and they will lose their properties.

What’s in trend right now?

Fashion is very fickle. New collections come out almost every week. In 2021, personal style and well-chosen look are more valued. It is possible to create a bad image even from the most fashionable things.

The main fashion trends can be distinguished:

  • shortened models with a voluminous and wide cuff. Such blow boots often come in bright colors. For a similar image must be very carefully selected the rest of the clothing. The slightest mistake will turn a fashionable bow into a ridiculous outfit;

  • Knee-length with fur trim. This is a more practical and elegant trend. We are not talking about a puffy fur trim, but about a small strip of “inner” fur. The fabric in this case can be either patent or matte;

  • “Children’s” styles. This trend is definitely not suitable for business ladies. But young girls have actively picked up this trend, attracted by the bright colors and convenience of such an informal style;

  • Horizontal stitches; Stitches should be emphasized and relieved.

Non-standard models that emphasize the individuality of their owner remain in demand.

The fashionable catwalks with camouflage, animalistic and Scandinavian motifs have irrevocably left the catwalks. The glossy surface and monochrome colors are in fashion.

Comparison with other boot models

It is desirable to have several different pairs of shoes for each season in your closet. But this is not always possible. In this case, the choice is especially difficult. What is better to take? What is warmer? What models are optimal? Let’s sort it out.

Snow boots

Snow boots are a peculiar kind of blow boots. They are very similar in their characteristics. But moon boots look more voluminous and massive. Such models are quite interesting but do not suit everyone.

Moonwalkers will not appreciate short ladies with an excess of extra pounds and ladies who prefer elegant and business style. This type of shoe is more suitable for young girls seeking to shock the public and appreciate freestyle.

Blow boots and snow shoes are essentially two varieties of the same footwear. If you compare similar models (length, material, and filling), their characteristics will be almost identical.

Some argue that moonwalkers are warmer due to the fact that they are looser and do not fit so tightly to the foot. But for the same reason, they’re not as comfortable as blow boots.

Moonboots come in only three sizes: S, M, and L. According to the official version, they are supposed to adjust to the foot, but in reality, they either rub or fall off.

Uggs

Ugg is another common model of winter shoes. Its disadvantage is just the popularity. The world market is literally saturated with a variety of counterfeit famous brands.

Answering the question of what is warmer than blow boots or uggs is very difficult. If you are lucky enough to buy real natural uggs – they will be no worse than blow boots. But artificial fakes are inferior even to budget models of blowing boots.

Leather Boots

Leather boots look neater and more elegant. But this is the only parameter in which this type of footwear is ahead of blow boots. By such criteria as thermal insulation, cost, comfort, and ease of care – boots lose out.

If you want to walk in winter in genuine leather, you can buy leather puffers for everyday use, and a pair of boots to keep for special occasions.

What to wear?

Hypothetically, you can wear them with anything. The main thing is that everything suits the owner of the outfit. For those who are in search of their own style, below are the most successful combinations.

In winter

The peculiarity of this season is that it is necessary to combine blow boots with outerwear and accessories.

Fur coat

Long models of the classic cut are better to wear under the elegant blow boots with a heel.

Fashionable plush fur coats will be better combined with voluminous moonwalkers or interesting shortened blow boots (in bright colors, with original trim, etc.).

Down jacket

The combination of a down jacket and blown boots seems boring and banal to many people. But, putting on the legs brighter and more voluminous models, you can get a very unconventional bow.

Raincoat

A raincoat is not necessarily a strict classic. Modern models are very well combined with a variety of variations of blown boots.

Parka

Youth parkas are gradually replacing boring down jackets. This winter clothing is so versatile that it fits almost all models of blow boots: short and long, bright and dark, voluminous and elegant.

Sheepskin coat

Under the sheepskin coat fit well-shortened blow boots sporty style. In combination with Velcro, they resemble sneakers.

Long models should be with a “highlight”: fur trim, laces, an original print, or clasps. Classic “smooth” models in this case are not suitable.

In the fall and spring

The choice of demi-seasonal clothing suitable for blow boots is much wider:

  • a warm tracksuit. Such outfits are often “puffed” themselves. In combination with classic blow boots, you can get a “marshmallow man” effect. To avoid this, it is better to choose short sports models of shoes, reminiscent of sneakers, or voluminous moonwalks;
  • jeans. Under the blown boots best fit skinny jeans models. They go well with all types and colors of blowing boots;

  • jacket. Leather jackets, jeans, parkas, down jackets – almost all kinds of seasonal jackets can be successfully combined with blown boots. The main thing is to decide what will be the main accent. If the main part is shoes, you need to choose the original model with interesting decoration. When the emphasis is on outerwear, the blowing boots should choose quieter and more neutral;
  • sporty style. Hoodies and wide pants with pockets are successfully complemented by voluminous shoes. This image will suit puffers on a platform, as trimmings can be used as laces or fur;

  • coats. Fashion designers have rethought their attitude to this type of clothing. At the moment, coats are successfully combined with almost any footwear: from subtle stiletto shoes to sports sneakers. Blown boots are not left out. Undercoats are worn by both more classic models of blow boots and avant-garde moon boots.
  • leggings. This type of clothing is perfectly combined with all types of puffers. Voluminous shoes in this case give additional slimness to the legs, making the silhouette more elegant;
  • skirt. It is advisable not to wear long skirts under the blown boots. They weigh the image, making the figure clumsy and disproportionate. It is better to combine blow boots with a length above the knee. But, regardless of the style of the skirt, the image turns out a little childish, so it is better suited for teenagers and young girls;
  • shorts. All sporty styles go well with blow boots. Shorts are no exception in this regard. Short skinny models made of leather, corduroy, or denim are the best fit;
  • sweater. The sweater is interestingly combined with “knitted” boots. The accent can be a similar pattern and coloring. Such an image is well suited for photo shoots.

But it is worth remembering that the spring models of blow boots are much smaller than the winter ones. This shoe is still more designed for cold and hard frosts, not for puddles and slush.

Color

There are no clear rules on what exactly should be worn with white or green blown boots. Much depends on the model of shoes, clothing style, and selected accessories. Here it is rather a question of the successful and unsuccessful combinations of different tones.

But even these recommendations are very tentative because each color has hundreds of shades, which in the final ensemble can be perceived very differently.

White

White is a universal color, it goes well with all styles and shades of clothing.

Silver

Silver is one of the most fashionable shades of the season. It goes with both light pastel shades and dark saturated ones.

But you should remember that this color is very bright and bold, it should be the main accent of the image. If you overdo the amount of shiny metal, you can turn from a stylish lady into a robot Werther

Pink

Many people associate pink booties with early childhood, so this tone is not very popular among adult ladies. But, it is worth replacing the bright shade of gum, with a muted pastel or powder, and the child’s image turns stylish, though a little frivolous.

Red

Red is a very bright and bold color. The main thing is not to have too much of it.

The best option would be if the red blow boots remain the only accent of the image. In a pinch, you can add them with one or two other things of the same color.

Black

Black is another classic shade that goes with everything.

If it seems too dark and dull, you can choose a model with laces. Playing with the color of this detail, you can create very interesting and non-standard images.

Bronze

The shade of shiny bronze invariably attracts attention. It is better to complement it with neutral tones without bright accents.

Gray

Gray is certainly practical, but a little dull.

To dilute the dull image can be done in two ways:

  • By adding bright accessories. A voluminous snood, an original backpack, or cute pompoms will do;

  • Choose a model with interesting finishes (laces, clasps, fur, etc.).

Purple

A saturated shade adds color to the cold winter. It is desirable to complement such shoes with accessories of the same tone: a scarf, gloves, bag, and hat is a classic options. But you can also come up with your own combination.

Blue

The blue palette is very extensive and multifaceted. You can pick up dark, almost black shades, and bright saturated shades. Such models can be further decorated with rhinestones or sequins.

Depending on the color and finish, these blow boots can fit a neutral and relaxed style, as well as very unexpected images.

Bordeaux

The more noble shade of red looks expensive and elegant. It successfully combines many colors and images.

Green

It is difficult to combine too bright green blow boots with casual wear. Muted tones of olive or khaki are more practical in this regard. If they seem too boring, you can choose models with a metallic shine. They look stylish and are well suited for youth images.

Brown

Brown is a standard color for shoes. It can be a complement to any ensemble, the main thing is to add to the image a few more details in the same palette.

Beige

Beige models are very popular with fashion designers because of their neutrality and versatility. Therefore, a suitable option in this color can be found for any image: from classic to frank avant-garde.

Blue

Boots in bright shades of blue perfectly complement informal and sports looks. They look very good in combination with white and other pastel shades.

Light tones of blue are better suited for more classic and casual outfits. They are easier to incorporate into “universal” ensembles.

Accessories

Accessories are the most important part of the closet. They can save the most unfortunate image, or ruin a perfect bow.

The standard set of winter accessories: hat, scarf (or snood), gloves, backpack, and bag. Chains, bracelets, rings, earrings, and watches are not so relevant in this case – because for the most part they are hidden under outerwear.

It is not necessary to invent anything new, because beauty and originality are hidden in the details. There are a lot of successful options, but it is worth highlighting a few actual accents:

  • gloves. High and wide gloves are in fashion this season. They are the best way to protect the hands in the winter cold and successfully complement the blown boots, balancing the figure;

  • Knitted chokers. This accessory is gradually winning back positions from voluminous snoods;

  • chains. This accessory is used in different ways: as bulk jewelry on the neck or waist, instead of a belt, or as décor for blow boots.

  • leggings. This winter attribute can be a successful replacement for leggings or skinnies.

The main thing, when choosing accessories, be guided by your own taste and sense of style. Selecting this or that detail, it is necessary to imagine the final look of the ensemble. It must be holistic and complete.

Brands

It’s hard to find a shoe manufacturer that wouldn’t release its own version of a popular shoe.

In the most stripped-down version, the list of in-demand brands includes:

  • Adidas;

  • The North Face;

  • Jog Dog;

  • Alaska;

  • Aurorastar;

  • Nike;

  • Patrol;

  • Outventure;
  • Fila;

  • Gogc;

  • Taccardi;

  • Nobbaro;

  • Romika;

  • Nordman;

  • Tervolina;

  • Reebok;

  • Baden;

  • Ecco;

  • Skechers;

  • Michael Kors;

  • Gucci;

  • Kuoma;

  • Ralf Ringer;

  • Milton;

  • Thomas Munz;

  • Finn Line;

  • Moncler;

  • Zenden;

  • Tommy Hilfiger;

  • Helly Hansen;

  • Unichel;

  • Columbia;
  • Crosby;

  • Brado;

  • Pierre Cardin;

  • Makfly;

  • Mascotte;

  • RioFiore.

Each manufacturer offers its own version of on-trend shoes, the buyer only has to choose the model that emphasizes his personality.

Fashionable Images

For a casual look, it is better to choose practical models of medium length on the “low walk”. The optimal shoe color is neutral: black, gray, beige, or brown. Such blow boots will be perfectly combined with almost the entire closet, which will allow you to make a variety of ensembles;

Sporty style as if specially created for blow boots. For this trend, it is better to choose models that resemble sneakers. The length of the puffers may vary;

For a gathering in a cafe or a movie suit better models with a “twist”. It could be an original heel, contrasting laces, and other details.

At school or in the office it is better to wear more classic models with a low heels. It is easier to combine them with business-style clothes;

Winter is not always drifts and frosts. For relatively warm weather shortened versions of blow boots are suitable. They are perfectly combined with coats, shorts, and voluminous snoods;

Long blowing boots, combined with a short skirt and jacket, will create a stylish image, which will be comfortable;

Particular attention should be paid to the choice of color. For example, here are two pictures below. They show the same clothes and boots, only the color is different. As a result, the final look looks different.

Care

Light-colored blow boots are especially popular. They look smart and perfectly complement any ensemble. But the owners of such shoes very quickly arise the question of how to wash white blow boots. After all, stains and dirty streaks give them an untidy look.

There are just as many problems with darker models. Due to the fact that the roads in the winter time are sprinkled with a variety of reagents, from contact with which the boots remain unsightly traces. It is not easy to clean the top layer at home, so as not to leave streaks on it.

Can I wash in a washing machine?

Complicated care is difficult and time-consuming. The easiest solution is an automatic machine, but almost all blow boots have a note on them about the prohibition of automatic washing. And here it all depends on the owner of the shoes. Someone will decide to wash boots by hand – and someone will risk and still send his shoes to the miracle technique.

Reviews about washing in the machine are very different. Some claim that it has no effect on the appearance and other characteristics of shoes, despite the prohibition on the label. Others complain of irrevocably ruined boots. The results depend on several factors:

  • The composition and quality of blow boots. Definitely can not be washed shoes made of natural materials. This applies to both the outer layer (leather, suede), and the inner insulation (sheepskin, fur). Also do not load cheap low-quality shoes into the drum, they can unravel from prolonged exposure to water and high temperatures;
  • type of detergent. To remove dirt and yellowing from white shoes, it is best to use liquid detergents for delicate cleaning (without aggressive ingredients);
  • of the selected mode. Not all machines have a special mode for washing shoes If it is missing, you need to set the parameter “No spin” and the temperature is not higher than 40 ° C;
  • organization of the process. It is advisable to buy a special bag for washing (in a pinch, hide blow boots in a pillowcase). Before placing in the drum, remove the laces and insoles from the shoes, and close all velcro and fasteners. After completing the cycle, the boots should be left in the machine for half an hour to let the water drain off. Drying should be natural. Do not place the boots in direct sunlight or near a radiator. The distance from heating devices should be at least 30 cm.

To be sure not to damage the shoes, you should take care of them according to the instructions. If there are doubts about the result of washing, it is better not to risk and send the shoes to the dry cleaner.

How to clean

If you need to clean your shoes at home, then pay attention to the nature of the dirt. Each type of stain requires its own remedy.

From mud

Normal street dirt can be removed with a damp cloth. It can be washed off the soles under running water. Special products have been developed for more difficult stains. A list of the most common ones is shown in the table below:

Type of contamination Cleaning product
Oil Dish detergent
Grass stains A mixture of soap and ammonia
Kopot Diluted turpentine (with water 1 to 1)
Paint White spirit

It is not necessary to pour a lot of detergents into the shoes. It is enough to apply the mixture to a sponge or cotton pad and gently scrub the stain.

It is also worth bearing in mind that some compositions are quite aggressive. Before applying them, apply them to an inconspicuous area of the shoe to check how the paint and fabric react to the chosen product.

For salt drips

There are several effective recipes for cleaning shoes from salt. The optimal option is selected depending on the color and material of the shoes.

The list of the most popular remedies includes:

  • vinegar or lemon juice. It should be diluted with water 1 to 3, and gently rubbed into the salt stain. After removal, the surface is polished with a clean cloth. This recipe is suitable for blown leather boots;
  • saddle soap (saddle soap). The foam of this preparation is applied to the contamination with a damp sponge (not wet) and actively rubbed into the surface. The foam should be left on the shoe for a couple of minutes and then removed with a damp cloth;

  • alcohol. Use a sponge soaked in alcohol to wipe off all stains until they are completely gone;

  • baking soda. Baking soda is diluted in water. In the resulting mixture, it is necessary to soak a rag and wipe stains with it. Repeat the procedure until the salt stains are removed.

To protect against new salt stains, you can coat your dutches with a special shoe spray. Most compositions for leather boots can also be used for raincoats. The main thing is to choose the right color for the chosen product.

How to whiten and remove yellowing

Sooner or later, yellow stains and streaks appear on any white shoe. This does not mean improper care or sloppy wear. It’s just the way the white surface reacts to contact with the environment: sunlight, rainwater, street dirt, etc.

Quality yellowing removal is a multi-step and rather time-consuming process. Depending on the composition of the blow boots and the degree of contamination, the cleaning process may differ. The basic steps can include:

  • soaking. The boots do not need to be completely immersed in the bleach, the composition is gently applied only to the yellowed areas;
  • washing, preferably by hand;
  • thorough rinsing;
  • proper drying of shoes.

How to make it non-slip

Winter shoes should not slip. But even the sole with a deep tread may not be very successful. There are several ways to make the shoes non-slip:

  • A band-aid, sandpaper, or felt. It’s enough to glue a few strips around the toe and heel, and the shoes will stop slipping. True, this method has a few drawbacks. The effect only gives a patch or sandpaper on a fabric base. Any of the chosen materials can peel off at the most inopportune moment;

  • glue and sand. The sole is smeared with glue and sprinkled with coarse sand. Act carefully so as not to stain the edges;

  • The left-handed shoes or spikes. There are a lot of options in stores. All of these devices are attached to the shoe with a variety of fasteners. Some you can put on by yourself, others will require the help of a cobbler;

Certain sources suggest replacing factory-made lepods by screwing self-tapping screws (nails, staples, etc.) into the sole. Such recommendations should be treated with a certain amount of skepticism. Two dozen nails or screws will cost many times cheaper, but the shoes can begin to leak. And to walk in such shoes will be pleasant only to beginners yogis.

  • potatoes. You can rub the sole with half a potato in a couple of seconds. The shoes will stop slipping, but the effect will be short-lived. For long walks, this method is not suitable;

  • socks. Old socks worn over blown boots give a good effect. True, such protection looks ridiculous, so it is rarely used.

If none of the above options suits you, you can seek help from a cobbler. He will be able to build up or replace the sole, deepen the tread or add professional spikes.

How to glue

The bottom part of the boot (the one made of EVA or rubber) can be repaired this way. If the tear is in the upper (textile) half, it will have to be sewn or mended.

The repair process is quite simple:

  1. Make the edges of the damaged area rough. It is enough to rub the surface with fine-grained sandpaper.
  2. Degrease (wipe with acetone);
  3. Glue. The main thing is to follow the instructions on the label and allow time for complete drying.

You can use a heat gun instead of regular glue. It is faster and easier, but the quality of adhesion to the base will be worse (even if the surface is pre-greased and treated with sandpaper). That is why the glue gun is a kind of “emergency aid”. Temporary repair, until it is not possible to qualitatively fix the hole.

If the cut is large, it may require patching. Such repairs will cause the shoe to lose its marketable appearance, but the footwear will not leak in slushy weather.

How to sew up a hole

The right way to repair depends on the type of hole. The most common damages are:

  • the seam has come apart (usually the back seam);
  • on the fabric of the cut;
  • a piece is torn out (the hole is round or three-dimensional).

In the latter case, it will be necessary to put a patch, which is sewn with a kapron thread or glued on the inside. With this repair, the damaged area will stand out strongly, and you can no longer wear these boots “out”.

The first two options allow for a “gentle” repair. With some care, the damaged area will be almost invisible, allowing you to continue to wear your favorite duffle shoes.

Stitch

For the work you will need:

  • strong thread and fishing line;
  • needle (the thinner the better);
  • scissors.

The repair process is quite simple. Holes from the “old” thread are usually left in the fabric. To sew the douche stitch neatly, you must insert the needle into the existing holes.

The thread should go “serpentine” as shown in the photo below.

If the work is done correctly, the stitch will hide completely, becoming “invisible”. To do this, just pull the thread. It must be pulled evenly so that no creases are formed on the fabric.

Separately, it is worth highlighting the issue of knots.

The initial one is hidden under the fabric. For this, it must be voluminous enough not to slip into the “old” hole.

The final knot will have to be hidden inside the boot. To do this, the cuff is pierced through, and the thread is tied inside the douche.

Then all that’s left is to remove the excess with scissors.

Needles and thread are not needed to repair a cut. All you need are scissors, an iron, and adhesive tape or thermal tape (adhesive tape used to “hem” pants).

For clarity, the step-by-step process of repairing blow boots is shown in the table.

This is what the cut looks like before you start.
If the webbing is used for repair, you will need a small piece of fabric (slightly larger than the cut). Its color does not matter, it will be hidden inside the cuff so that the thermal tape does not stick to the insulation of the boot.

When working with a Band-Aid, a “patch” is not necessary. The main thing is that the patch should be cloth-based.

A piece of webbing should be slightly larger than the hole to fix the edges of the cut.
Thermal tape is placed on the “patch” and the top is covered with parchment (paper from the cobweb itself will do).
Tape is ironed over the parchment with an iron so that it sticks to the “patch”.

When working with a band-aid, this and the previous point are skipped.

The resulting blank removes the protective layer of paper, and it is placed inside the cut sticky side up.
The blank (or patch) should be carefully flattened. So that the adhesive layer is clearly under the hole and the “patch” has no folds and creases.
The edges of the cut are butted together and ironed.

At this point, you need to proceed with caution. The temperature of the iron should be such that it will not damage the fabric and, at the same time, melt the adhesive of the thermal tape.

After such a repair, only a thin seam will be left on the fabric. If the edges look sloppy, you can cut the threads that stick out with scissors.

Conclusion

Is it fashionable to wear a pair of puffer shoes? The answer is unequivocal: yes! Moreover, in the coming years, they are unlikely to lose their popularity. The main thing is to choose an actual model and correctly fit it into your own closet. In this case, you can get a stylish winter image, which will be warm and comfortable.
